An Interview With Electric Bike Rider Jane Bence

Jane's Bike (named Lucy)

Our customers tend to be interesting, good looking, and one-of-a-kind. That's why we can't stop nattering with them. We had a chat with campaigner and avid e-cyclist (as well as part-time radical teddy-bear) Jane Bence.

An Interview With Electric Bike Rider Gemma Allen

Electric bike rider Gemmas Juicy Classic against a traditional iron fence.

Here's another peek into the life of a Juicy rider (specifically, the charming Gemma Allen.) How does an electric bike impact Gemma's independant business, her leisure time, her health and money? And more importantly: can her husband still keep up when they cycle together? There was only one way to find out:

Hi Gemma! Thanks for dropping by for a chat. Question 1: where's your favourite place to ride your Juicy Bike?

I live near some lovely rural villages which are fantastic to visit by bike. I love that I’m not limited in where I can go thanks to the power assist. It helps me up the steeper inclines that I’d normally be forced to avoid. Sometimes I even deliberately slow down to make sure I’m taking in the views.

Day-to-day I use my bike to commute. I run my own business and have to travel to and from customers. I’m so much faster by Juicy Bike so I can visit more people in a day. And I’m able to keep my prices lower than my car-using competitors because the bike is so inexpensive to run. A win win.

Interview with Juicy ebike rider Robert Jackson

Juicy Bike: Hi Bob. Thanks for dropping by to answer some questions. How're you finding your Juicy Bike?

Bob Jackson: "Well, funnily enough, I appreciate the ability to cycle without any assistance. I was in an accident that robbed me of all the strength in my right leg, and being able to choose exactly how much help I get has allowed me to build up the muscle without injuring myself. And if I get really tired, I can twist the throttle and go. The fact that I can fold it up and put it in the boot is also very handy."

Police Patrols Needn't be an Uphill Struggle

In our educated and unbiased opinion, a Juicy Bike is a great fit for a Police Community Support Officer.

That's why we were happy to help when the New Mills and Hayfield Support Team inquired about establishing a fleet of their very own.

We thought we'd have a chat with our local PCSO Lee Baker to see how he and his colleagues were getting on.

Juicy Bikes: Morning Lee!

First question: How have you found the transition from police car to Juicy Electric Bike?

Focus on The Tissington Trail

There are a ton of ways for you to enjoy a warm summer afternoon, but it has to be a leisurely cycle along a dappled trail that tops our list. So first of all thanks to everyone who has generously shared their Great Days Out over the last few weeks. We've started to accumulate a nice little archive of rides that we wouldn't mind trying ourselves.
Here's one more for your repertoire: when we at JB (finally) get the chance for a ride of our own, you'll probably find us along our number one local route: the Tissington Trail. It's the ideal starting point for anyone looking to explore the Peak District - after all it's flat, traffic-free, and flanked the whole way by beautiful countryside. Even us Buxtoners find it hard to get tired of rolling green dales and green woodland.  In the summertime, Juicy Bikes come into their own on the trail. Feel like a true non-conformist and stray from the path (both literally and metaphorically). This way you can avoid the (literal) dogs on leads, beat the cram of cyclists enjoying the sun and visit the Hartington Cheese Factory. Which is ace.
We grilled Kate at Parsley Hay Cycle Hire about how else to best enjoy the trail.
Hi Kate - thanks for agreeing to tell our lovely readers about the Tissington Trail. What would you say are some of its best features?
Well, for a start the whole trail is surprisingly flat - which compared to the surrounding area is unusual and very welcome. Cycling in the Peak District can be quite restrictive if you're not super fit or a keen cyclist, and this way you get appreciate the rolling countryside without having to climb it. Then there's gorgeous scenery - it really is very pretty - and all the nice places to stop. Tissington village in particular comes to mind as a lovely surprise.
